Sweep
Extrude a profile along a path to create pipes, tubes, and curved shapes
Overview
The Sweep tool creates 3D shapes by extruding a 2D profile along a path. Create pipes, tubes, handles, rails, or springs/helixes. The profile shape is maintained as it follows the path. Available through natural language only.
Parameters
| Parameter | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Profile Shape | Shape of the 2D profile to sweep | circle |
| Profile Size | Size of the profile (diameter or dimensions) | 0.25 in |
| Path Type | Type of path to sweep along | arc |
| Path Parameters | Path-specific settings (length, radius, angle, turns) | varies |
| Operation | Add material or cut from existing part | add |
How to Use
1
Describe the shape
Tell the AI what swept shape you want (pipe, handle, spring, etc.).
2
Specify the profile
Include the cross-section shape and size.
3
Define the path
Describe the path (curved, straight, helical).
Natural Language Alternatives
Instead of using the tool, you can type these commands:
Create a pipe with 0.5 inch diameter curved 90 degreesMake a handle that arcs 180 degrees with 2 inch radiusCreate a spring with 10 turns, 1 inch diameter, 0.1 inch wireSweep a square profile along a curved path for a rail
Tips
- Use arc paths for handles and curved pipes
- Helix paths create springs and coils
- The profile stays perpendicular to the path direction
